Here are the ten most popular listings in Brooklyn this week on Brownstoner. I love these article roundups as it shows the range of properties available and what’s catching people’s eyes. From a brick row house in Crown Heights to a two-family brownstone with a garden apartment in Bed Stuy and a Boerum Hill loft in the former Ex-Lax factory, there’s something for everyone. Let me know if any of these homes are calling to you and let’s set up a tour!
NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week
After more than two decades in the making, Abolitionist Park in Downtown Brooklyn is finally open. The 1.15-acre park gives neighborhood residents some much-needed green space, while commemorating the 19th century abolitionist movement in Brooklyn. Given the area has been heavily developed in recent years, it’s a welcome sight to have a central lawn, playground, water feature, and dog run surrounded by beautiful landscaping. Two public art installations by Kenseth Armstead will be erected as well to honor the area’s rich history. A respite from Downtown activity and an opportunity to reflect.
Weekly Gem 💎
Try it—before changing it.
Many of you know that my palette is limited but I’ve come a long way from where I used to be. Years ago, I used to season my food before I tasted it. I remember someone telling me that in doing so, I signaled that I didn’t try things before changing them and was also likely assigning a potentially inaccurate value. It made me wonder “how often do we do this in life”? It’s not limited to food. We find it in personal relationships, job opportunities, etc. If we “think” it’s not good, we don’t make the effort to try it or experience it. The key to a rewarding and fulfilling life is to try it first and then (and only then) change it to your liking.
Stunning Duplex in an Artists’ Colony
Listing courtesy of my Compass colleague, Karen Kelley
27 West 67th Street, Unit FW is a two-bed, two-and-two-half bath duplex in the heart of the West 67th Street Artists’ Colony. The essence of this district, comprising eight buildings, lies in its pioneering fusion of artists’ studios and living spaces, a concept ahead of its time in early 20th-century New York City. It’s a home with deep historical significance. On the market for $3.675M, you’ll find:
- A Great Room with 17’ barrel-vaulted ceilings and an original floor-to-ceiling stained glass window.
- An exquisite foyer adorned with period oak wainscoting.
- A wood-burning fireplace and meticulously restored, hand-crafted chandeliers.

Before you go…
🐶: The U.S. cities with the most dog friendly rentals (plus the most popular dog names and breeds). Can you guess where NYC falls on the list?
🥩: Every song in Kendrick & Drake’s beef ranked. I have a problem with their order, what say you?
🎵: Wu-Tang fans rejoice! Ghostface Killah just dropped a new album Set the Tone feat. Nas, Meth, Busta and a joint with Raekwon called Skate Odyssey. Pretty Toney still got it?
🖌️: This entire NYC neighborhood has turned into an art gallery. Looks sick!
