The Most Expensive Home in the World

What Up Family?

Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.

Real Estate Remix

The most expensive house in the world might be this French Château. Located on the outskirts of Paris, the home is currently asking $425 million via an off-market auction site called Whisper Auctions. Known as Château d’Armainvilliers, the home previously belonged to the Rothschild family, England’s illustrious banking dynasty, as well as King Hassan II of Morocco. The estate itself is almost three times as big as Central Park (!!), clocking in at 3,961 hectares with 100 rooms across three floors. There are 17 themed bedroom suites, five salons, stables with room for 50 horses, a beauty parlor, a Turkish bath, and staff housing. The sheer size of this estate is mindblowing. From the photos, I can’t say it’s decorated in Carte Blanche taste, but it’s an impressive home regardless.

NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week

My Mom is my rock; there’s no way I’d be the person I am today without her love, support, and shining example to always Be Kind. In honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday, here are a few fun ideas to show Mom you care:

  • You can never go wrong with the gift of Art! Uprise is a gallery based in NY with access to tons of affordable, original artists—I love their curation.
  • Cook her a special meal: I’m no chef but I do find that often the simplest gestures mean the most. (If you can’t be with Mom, Goldbelly ships iconic meals from all over the U.S….think Florida stone crab from Joe’s, cupcakes from Magnolia, and caviar from Thomas Keller).
  • A gratitude journal, for the gift that keeps on giving
  • For the Mom with a green thumb
  • If you’re lucky to be with Mom in NY, you could spend the day at the botanical gardens, going to her favorite museum, making art together, or grabbing a bite at Smorgasburg in Prospect Park.
  • Have a unique gift for Mom that you want to share with others? Send it to me and I’ll add it to my IG story!

I’d be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to send love and light to anyone who no longer has their mom in the physical, I’m sure this holiday is extremely difficult. Still find a way to smile—you gained an angel.

Weekly Gem 💎

Self-care is the way.

When we have free time, there’s often pressure to ensure we’re being productive. This is your reminder that self-care is equally important during those breaks. In my free windows last week, I chose to focus on myself: I meditated, reflected, and cleaned out my space—physically and spiritually. It reminded me how important it is to take time to be still. Too often we go, go, go (getting deals done, talking to clients, running around the city to the next showing). Sometimes you just have to stop, be still, and focus on yourself. Self-care is the way, fam—make sure you do it often.

Before you go…

🤫:  This is NYC’s newest members-only club. I love the chef behind it, but I can’t help but feel that these types of clubs are trending out. I could be wrong. Thoughts?

🏡:  Gisele Bündchen’s former West Village townhome (right on Barrow St.) hit the market last week for $16.9M and it’s a stunner! My Compass colleague, Rachel Glazer holds the listing.

🛋️: Renovation regrets? These five homeowners share the mistakes they won’t make again…

🎵: Rapsody dropped 3:AM feat. Erykah Badu, that rare, love tribute record that stays on repeat.

🎈: AirBnB’s latest stint is a floating house replicating the movie Up. Here’s a look inside.
