The Edit: 🇬🇧 London’s Biggest Real Estate Deal

November 6, 2024

What Up Family?

Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.

Real Estate Remix

Tom Ford recently bought an €80M ($104M) mansion in London’s Chelsea neighborhood. The transaction marks one of London’s biggest deals this year and is a rare high point for the city, whose luxury market has been slumping this past year after a series of reforms. Tom Ford’s home purchase is the latest example of London homes drawing American buyers, whose interest has helped keep the luxury market afloat. I have a partner in London that can help you explore housing opportunities across the pond, so if you’re interested in learning more, let’s chat!

NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week

Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy opens at The Shed later this month and invites us into a colorful fun house of carnival attractions. It includes work by artists of the 20th C, including my personal favorite, Jean-Michel Basquiat, as well as Sonia Delaunay, Keith Haring, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, and more. The exhibit first opened in Hamburg, Germany in 1987 and was resurrected in LA in 2023 after more than 36 years in storage! (How these pieces ended up in storage is beyond me!) The exhibit starts Nov 20th—I’m pre-buying tickets since I don’t want to miss it. Anyone care to join? More info here.

Weekly Gem 💎

Rest and Recover

Since this is a big week with a lot of heightened emotions around the election, and possibly its results, today’s gem is a simple one: take time to rest. These days, it feels like the mandate is to work, work, work—with few people even caring to mention the word “rest”. (For all my marathon runners, you definitely know firsthand the power of the rest day!) It’s during our recovery that we feel set up to reach the next level, the major gain, the extra miles, or a personal best. Rest enables us to regroup and recharge. So this week, make sure to block out a few hours for yourself, a weekend off, whatever your schedule permits, but take time to rest and recover!

The Best Homes on the Market This Week

Here are three of my favorite fly listings in NYC across all price points.  Because Team Carte Blanche is all about the people, not the price.

54 7th Ave S.

$12,250,000   5 Bed | 4.2 Bath   West Village

A property brimming with history and a lineage of notable owners, this home is one of the most unique offerings on the market! Currently configured as three separate spaces—including an artist’s studio, a 2-bed apartment, and owner’s duplex—there are endless possibilities for how to use this space.

60 Beach St, B3

$6,395,000    2 Bed | 2.5 Bath    Tribeca

Nestled on a cobblestone street in Tribeca, this 2,569 SF home embodies the essence of loft living. Entry via a keyed elevator leads you directly into the sprawling great room studded with oversized arched bay windows, white oak herringbone floors, and bespoke millwork built-ins. The current decor is pretty fly, too.

23 E 10th St, #409

$999,000   1 Bed | 1 Bath    Greenwich Village

This stunning one-bed loft lies in a full-service, pre-war coop and asks an unbeatable price. This light-filled home is framed by 9-foot windows that overlook 11th Street and includes a decorative fireplace, hardwood floors, and floor-to-ceiling closets.
