Peek Inside a Rare Perry St Townhome

What Up Family?

Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.

Real Estate Remix

I love reading articles that pontificate on the latest interior design trends. Even better is seeing those trends represented inside the fly, beautiful, new homes that hit the market. According to AD, full-size interior trees are here to stay. The Clinton Hill listing I spotlighted last week has a six-and-a-half-foot Japanese Maple growing at the center. California-based celebrities Chrissy Teigen and John Legend and interior design guru Kelly Wearstler also have large indoor trees as the focal point of their homes. Good vibes and better air quality seem to be positive effects of bringing natural elements inside. As much as I love the aesthetics of this trend, I can’t say I’m incentivized to take the leap (yet). Taking care of it seems like quite the step up from my house plants, and the square footage in most NY homes isn’t exactly amenable. To all my soon-to-be-home buyers: would you buy a home with an indoor tree? I mean, it’s definitely next level.

NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week

Manhattan’s Pier 17 has been turned into an immersive Winter Wonderland Village for the month of December. Normally a dope rooftop concert venue, the Seaport’s Pier—which is steps away from Jean-Georges’ Tin Building (well worth a visit in and of itself)—has morphed into the North Pole, featuring a rooftop skating rink, indoor/outdoor bar serving hot cocoa, eggnog, hot toddies, and snacks, plus private cabins (ft. TVs and heaters) for intimate dinners. I’m planning on taking the whole fam later this month; who’s with me??

Weekly Gem 💎

You Are God’s Gift To Us.

The way you were made, the way you were created, is exactly how you should be. Push out all the noise that tells you you’re too short, too tall, too fat, too skinny, that your nose is too big, or your lips too thin, or that your skin color needs to look like this or that. Remember, you are one-of-one and God’s gift to the world. What that means is creation felt that it would not be complete without you. The way you were designed was intentional. Remember who the F you are!! You are a gift.

Rare West Village Townhome Available on Perry Street

Listing courtesy of my Compass colleague, Joshua Wesoky

Spanning a vast 4,100 square feet, 25 Perry Street is a beautiful home listed for $12,995,000. The five-bed, four-and-a-half bath residence houses eight fireplaces, 12-foot-high ceilings, and an additional 830 SF in the cellar. This one is really special:

  • “Triple parlor” floor configuration and 22’ in width make it ideal for comfortable, day-to-day living and larger than other townhomes in the neighborhood.
  • Over 50’ of entertaining space and clear sightlines from the front to the rear of the house.
  • Both the living room and dining room/library are spectacular, with original crown moldings and fireplace mantels; the rear parlor enjoys beautiful views over the garden and opens onto a Juliet balcony.
  • A private patio leads to an extraordinarily beautiful and rare communal garden, shared by only five other townhomes and St John’s in the Village Church.
  • Who wants a tour? (The decor is also pretty fly).

Before you go…

📖: Oxford’s 2023 word of the year is used by kids daily and making me feel old as F***!

🎵: British rock icon Peter Gabriel just released i/o, his first album of original material in 21 years (!). It’s been in the making for at least three decades and is co-produced by Brian Eno. Gabriel has taken a unique approach by releasing a track from the LP on every full moon. 😮

🐪: This list of 2024 food trends had me laughing. Pickles, halloumi, and camel milk, oh my! (I hope you read that in the tone of lions, tigers, and bears).

✖️: Forbes compiled a Hall of Shame highlighting all the 30 Under 30s they regretted picking. Guess who’s number 1??
