Fifty years ago, at a back-to-school party in the Bronx, hip-hop was born. Those who know me know how important music is to me—especially hip-hop. I discovered it rapping along to Sugar Hill Gang’s ‘Rapper’s Delight’…and it changed my life. As a tribute to this groundbreaking genre, events are being held all across the city. I’m heading to Bronx Terminal Market this week to check out the [R]Evolution of Hip Hop exhibit, an interactive journey through hip-hop’s golden era. It’s on until the end of the month.
