What Up Family?
Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdomâall in three minutes or less. Letâs dive in.Â
Real Estate RemixÂ
It looks like One World Trade is getting some height competition fromâof all placesâOklahoma. Last week, the Oklahoma City Council gave the green light to construct a 2,000-foot tower that will dethrone OWT (which stands at 1,776 feet) as the countryâs tallest building. The worldâs tallest tower currently stands in Dubai and clocks in at 2,717 feet. The Oklahoma building, named Legends Tower, will house one hotel and 1,000 luxury apartments. It will be the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere (it might be five-plus years before this building becomes a reality). I love being up high with a killer view and enjoy living at neighborhood level (we all know how I feel about my beloved Brooklyn brownstones). So, it begs the question, would you live in a building taller than One World Trade?
NYC Insider: Whatâs Happening This WeekÂ
Summer in the city is kicking into high gear, and there are an unlimited number of outdoor events to prove it. Naturally, catching some live music is one of my favorite things to do when the weather gets warmer. The NY Philharmonicâs park performances across the city are always a fun time. Grab some friends, bring a blanket & some snacks, choose your park, and donât forget to stay for the post-show fireworks. Theyâre performing tonight in Central Park and this weekend in Brooklyn. You Donât Get What You Deserve, You Get What You Negotiate!Â
How often do you get upset because you didnât get what you felt you deserved? I recently experienced this and had to check myself because I was too eager to collaborate and didnât stop to value my involvement correctly. Itâs time we stop thinking, âI deserve more.â If thatâs how you feel, then be clear about that upfront. Someone elseâs starting point doesnât have to be your ending point. Donât be offended or let your emotions get the best of you. When negotiatingâwhether in a relationship or at your jobâitâs our responsibility to know our worth and negotiate accordingly.Â
