Michael Jordan’s House STILL for sale?!

September 11, 2024

What Up Family?

Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.

But before we do, let’s take a moment to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11 and the families directly impacted. Sending love and light to all. 🕊️

Real Estate Remix

Did you know that Michael Jordan’s house has been on the market for 12 years?!?! (Yep, fam, you read that right!) Since his 56,000 SF Chicago estate was first listed in 2012 for $29M (and later dropped to $15M), it has sat unsold. Word on the street is that the home’s unique details (like the bespoke iron entry gates with his iconic number 23, locker room, trophy room, and basketball court painted with his family’s names) aren’t helping. Highly personalized celebrity homes can be both a hindrance to the sale but such elements also add to the allure. On the one hand, you’re purchasing a piece of history but on the other, it’s a home, not a museum, and it has to feel personal to those living in it. I’m curious to hear from my readers—what do you think?

NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week

Visionary Projects is a global art platform that fosters an active community. I’ve mentioned their events before because I love their mission of making the contemporary art world more accessible and approachable as they work with emerging artists. This month, they’re hosting a number of events including intuitive painting nights, an art-themed dinner party, guided gallery walks, sound baths, and creative journaling. There’s something for everyone interested in unleashing their inner creativity or learning more about art. Check out all their events and register here

Weekly Gem 💎

Fair Exchange, No Robbery!

This is a classic gem that speaks to harmony in a relationship or transaction, where both sides feel content with the outcome. In life and business, I’ve found that there are givers and takers. Takers squeeze everything out of a deal and hold people’s energy hostage. (If this sounds like you, this is my public plea that you stop doing that immediately.) You actually net more when you play fair! If you’re a giver, be mindful of how you allocate your time, money, and energy so you don’t get caught up in situations that aren’t egalitarian. Fair can be defined in different ways—it’s not always 50/50, but rather about the contribution of each party. Always err on the side of making sure the other side can hold their head high and you will be better off for it… both financially and spiritually.
