What Up Family?
Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.
Real Estate Remix
This week the NYT published a four-decade timeline of Williamsburg’s transformation. It’s crazy to see the skyline and neighborhood change over the years. What once used to be a neighborhood filled with mills, foundries, and meatpacking plants and then a haven for creatives is now home to several luxury brands and over 500 condo buildings. The Domino sugar factory, Vice corporate offices, and the waterfront development all helped fuel the formation of Williamsburg as a ‘corporate brand.’ Now, high rises and condos are plentiful and Hermès and Chanel just opened new storefronts. It’s a story not unlike other areas in NYC—neighborhoods evolve and grow, and right now, Williamsburg is in its “peak gentrification” era. Like all NYC areas, it’s a neighborhood that suits some and not others. Where do you fall?
NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week
Now you already know I’m leaning HEAVY into art this year, and the MoMA Ps1 has some fly exhibits right now. An artist named Rirkrit Tiravanija is currently showing untitled 2011 (t-shirt, no t-shirt), an interactive exhibition where visitors can choose a slogan—from a pre-selected list—for performers to silkscreen onto a cotton T-shirt that can be taken home. It sounds dope and interesting, but it only runs until this Sat, March 2nd, so I’m going ASAP! You can find out more here.
Weekly Gem 💎
The first sale you make is to yourself.
Your growth and advancement are all tied to your belief in yourself. So many people suffer from imposter syndrome (I’ve been there) because you aren’t quite clear on what value you add. Once you put in the requisite work, your confidence will start to soar, and you’ll finally be able to make that first “sale” and believe you are worthy. I’m not talking about a traditional sale here; YOU are the number one product when it comes to this kind of selling. So, be still, and know that there is no one on the planet that can do what you do the way you do it.
Williamsburg’s Newest Luxury Boutique Development
Listing courtesy of my brother and Compass colleague, Steve Halpern
RoseBK (located at 207 N 8th St) is Williamsburg’s newest luxury development, and the best part is it’s eco-friendly! Finished with high-end Italian interiors and appliances all within a dope architectural framework, RoseBK is fly AF! I toured yesterday and was blown away by all of the thoughtful choices (red clay tiles, glass top vanities, recessed doors, no moldings, so clean lines throughout; check my IG story today for the highlight reel). The building offers four units across six stories (TH Triplex, two floor-throughs, PH Triplex), ranging in price from $2.2 – $4.6M, so there’s something for everyone. Here’s the rundown:
- Live in a home that cuts energy consumption by 80% and provides air filtration with its certified passive house living.
- Sun-filled spaces through triple-paned windows allow for year-round indoor temperatures.
- Luxury bathrooms and kitchens crafted by LAGO, fixtures by Gessi. (The bathrooms are sick!)
- Who wants a tour?
Before you go…
🏠: This Bed-Stuy home (home to a fashion editor) is full of INSANE style. I’m digging it.
🏖️: Damn, now this is a beach house I can seriously get behind. Hint: Pink sand is involved.
👟: I have my eyes on these kicks, which drop mid-March. What do we think??
🎵: OK, this week, I’m going way left! I picked this group for their band name alone, Mannequin Pussy 👀and actually enjoyed this record, I Got Heaven. The album of the same name drops this Friday, March 1st. Am I crazy?
