Four Epic Brownstone Renovations đŸ”„

August 7, 2024

What Up Family?

Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.

Real Estate Remix

Brownstones have a special place in my heart—especially when they’re taken care of and updated with modern fixtures. Brownstone restoration can be a major undertaking and should be approached with the utmost care to ensure the integrity of the home is preserved. I loved this article detailing four brownstone renovations that blend historic features with modern-day living. I dig that architectural preservation is core to each of these reno’s—all while mixing in a good dose of personality via pops of color, funky furniture, and textured art. Which one is your favorite?

NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week

Summer Streets has returned again and they’re happening every Saturday in August. For those who don’t know, Summer Streets is when certain streets around the city are blocked off to allow people to cycle, run, and walk as they please without cars. The streets that will be closed can be found here.

Weekly Gem 💎

“Just because it’s not the perfect pitch, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t swing.” -Ryder

This gem is courtesy of my son, Ryder, and I feel it speaks to so many of us who are “waiting for the ideal conditions” to move forward. Ryder knows that when he’s playing baseball he can’t wait for the perfect fastball up the middle. The majority of the time when he hits a home run, it’s from a pitch that was inside or outside. If he only swung at bonafide strikes, he wouldn’t have found success. How many of us have missed out on opportunities because it didn’t present the way we needed to take advantage of it? We have to stop waiting for the layup, the set-out, the invite, the optimal scenarios. Stop waiting around—get in where you fit in and make it work!
