What Up Family?

Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.

Real Estate Remix

Some light real estate reading for you this morning—I highly enjoyed this article detailing the six Italian brothers who shaped New York’s sculptural streetscape. The Public Library lions, Central Park’s Maine Monument, and New York Stock Exchange pediment are just a small sample of the Piccirilli brothers’ amazing work that studs our city’s streets. After immigrating to America from Italy in 1888, the brothers worked out of their family shop in the Bronx, carving sculptures from stone and marble that would eventually establish New York as a major center of art production. I love diving into New York’s history and learning the names of those who helped build the beautiful city we live in today.

NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week

To my fellow real estate oglers and design fanatics, the best time of the year has arrived: Open House New York. Ongoing since 2003, Open House New York is a free, annual event granting public access to hundreds of fly homes and spaces all across NYC. Happening this weekend from October 20th – 22nd, OHNY gives New Yorkers an inside look into noteworthy single-family homes, newly constructed factories, historic buildings, museums, private clubs, cathedrals, bike corridors, waterways, and more. One of my favorite parts of being an agent is exploring incredible residences and the many ways people create a home. For fans of Only Murders In The Building, the UES’s Belnord (aka The Arconia) is one of the many buildings to tour. Here’s the schedule to plan your weekend.

Weekly Gem 💎

When we’re hurting, we need to find a way to smile.

It’s been a really tough week in the world. To everyone hurting, I am one of you, I feel you, and I am here for you. Even though the darkness feels overpowering, we must keep our hope alive and find a way to smile. We live in a world with conflicting agendas, and that leads to a feeling of not being seen or heard. When the outside world is scowling, we must be still and smile. How? We start by being thankful for all that is good in our lives and use that to frame our perspective. Is it daunting? Absolutely. Will we prevail and be in a better place tomorrow? I believe we will. Here’s a vote for humanity, and us not revoking ours. So, even with tears streaming down our faces, let’s take a deep breath…and smile.

There are so many details to love in this FOUR-STORY, five-bed, three-and-a-half-bath townhome in Bed Stuy. Meticulously renovated and nestled on a verdant tree-lined block, 58 Madison Street perfectly blends modern luxury and timeless charm. Highlights include:

  • A dramatic, wooden center staircase separating, an original decorative fireplace, and a private rear deck
  • Radiant-heated floors, skylights, and solar panels on the roof
  • Magnificent original wooden details and whitewashed exposed brick walls
  • A recently renovated, charming eat-in kitchen with marble countertops, custom cabinetry, and a vented range hood
  • Who wants a tour?

Before you go…

🏖️: Manhattan’s first public beach is now open on the West Side Highway.

🎵: Bad Bunny is arguably the biggest artist on the planet, but I still haven’t had a chance to learn why. His new album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Mañana just dropped, so I’ll start there.

🏠: A survey by RedFin finds that 59% of homebuyers claim purchasing a home is more stressful than dating. I haven’t been in the game in a while, but I promise that when you work with me, it’ll be much smoother than a first date.

👟: I’m not a fan of the new Loewe x On sneaker collab. Does anyone want to change my mind?
