Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.
Real Estate Remix
I stumbled upon this interesting read from Business Insider this past weekend. With barriers to homeownership growing and DIY/home makeover content on social media expanding, millennials have started renovating their rentals and pressing pause on buying a home. In 2018, only 37% of millennials had purchased a home by the age of 25-34, whereas 45% of boomers had bought by that age. While many millennials may not be in a financial position to purchase, they are treating their spaces with love and care—painting, decorating, and renovating to make their residences feel like their forever home. While I always preach that homeownership is a better long-term investment than renting, I understand it’s not always possible—especially in large cities like New York. If your only chance to live in your dream city is to rent long-term, I commend you for making your space uniquely yours and doing the damn thing.
NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week
Spring is most definitely springin’ this week. I always love New York in the spring—it’s like the whole city gets a pep in their step as the coats come off and the vibes are high. This week, the UWS’s Tulip Festival is in full bloom. Head to the secret garden at 123 W 89th between Amsterdam and Columbus Ave to stroll through the beautiful garden and see the tulips. This park’s plantings have been a tradition for 46 years. I’m taking my kids and heading there soon; let me know if you’ve been!
Weekly Gem 💎
Comparison will steal your joy.
Don’t compare yourself to other people. Why? Because we are all unique and have our own set of experiences that frame who we are. So when you’re looking around at other people’s success, you inherently disregard what it took for them to get there. You can model success, but don’t discount that you‘re also being a model for someone else. Both the sun and the moon shine when it’s their time. Love y’all!

📕: My takeaways from my latest read, The Creative Act, by legendary producer (and one of my all-time faves) Rick Rubin.
🪴: This couple pays $1,600/month for their 1-bed apartment in BK and owns more than 150 houseplants. Here’s a peek inside.
👞: In a brand collab that shocked maybe everyone, Pringles x Crocs dropped a limited edition collection, and the designs are about as wild as you’d expect. Thoughts?!
🎵: The world needs more love! So check out the new album Dram&B by Dram and put that “Sweet Like” on…🍭
📖: The best books of 2024 thus far. I haven’t read any of these yet, but I’m certainly adding The Rebel’s Clinic to my list on Goodreads! (P.S. Follow me on Goodreads, and let’s connect over what we’re reading!).
