June 5, 2024

What Up Family?

Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.

Real Estate Remix

I love to highlight an insane listing every now and then, and this private island off the coast of Connecticut certainly fits the bill! The 7.5-acre property sits on Long Island Sound and features multiple houses, including a main house, a four-bed guest house, an artist’s studio, a greenhouse, and a pool house. Listed for $35M, the seller—an executive at the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates—originally purchased the home in 2018 for $22M. Reachable by a short boat ride, the island (which is called Rogers Island) has two docks, 10 bedrooms, a tennis court, a Jack-Nicklaus-designed putting green, a pool, and manicured gardens. I love the privacy and space, but I personally like having neighbors. Would you live here?

NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week

Photoville is back with an epic lineup of free photo exhibitions across all five boroughs. The festival runs from June 1 to 16 and showcases work from several artists. It focuses on highlighting stories of hope, joy, and compassion while honoring stories of adversity and heartbreak. Head to Brooklyn Bridge Park, the South St Seaport, or any of its other locations to enjoy the art.

Weekly Gem 💎

Make peace with your past.

How many of us are replaying old movies in the theater of our minds of ‘would’ve, could’ve, should’ve’? Lamenting missed opportunities or wrongdoings will absolutely pothole your future. Don’t give power to something that’s over. Instead, leave that right there and make peace with your past. You are stronger and wiser; whatever the resolution, it’s time to move forward.
