🎬 De Niro’s Not Leaving NYC

Robert De Niro isn’t chasing Hollywood, he’s anchoring film production right here in Queens. At 81, the Oscar winner opened Wildflower Studios, a 775,000-square-foot, Bjarke Ingels-designed facility in Astoria, blending luxury with grit. It’s his second shot at building a NYC studio after a failed ‘90s bid and this time, it stuck. With film jobs still recovering post-strike and productions chasing cheaper cities, De Niro’s all-in on keeping the cinematic heartbeat of New York alive. “There’s no place like New York,” he says. And for him, there never was.

NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week

Two days. One park. Endless rhythm.

The inaugural Nomad Jazz Festival lands August 9–10, turning Flatiron and Nomad into a live soundtrack. The main stage? Madison Square Park, where jazz royalty like Lizz Wright, Ravi Coltrane, and the Roy Hargrove Big Band take the mic, joined by tap dancers and immersive sets from Asase Yaa Dance Theater Ensemble.

For families (and the inner kid in all of us), ABCirque brings circus-inspired fun, so think face painting, try-it stations, and open-air joy. Best part? It’s all free. Just bring a blanket, grab some snacks, and let the music move you.

Clarity Comes From the Doing

You’re not stuck. You’re just stalling, waiting for some magical sign that says now’s the time. But here’s the truth most people won’t tell you:

The signal gets stronger after you start.

For the longest time, I would find myself going in circles: pros and cons, hypotheticals, plan B through Z. Until finally… l moved. Imperfectly. Unevenly. And that tiny step cracked the code. The next move revealed itself in motion.

Was it scary? Of course! Did I also learn to trust myself and just act on my hunches? Absolutely.

We don’t think our way into clarity. We walk into it.

So if you’re waiting to “feel ready,” this is your nudge:

Stop waiting for certainty. Start moving with conviction.

One step forward hits harder than a hundred what-ifs. You got this. Start walking. Your path is waiting.
