What Up Family?
Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdom—all in three minutes or less. Let’s dive in.
Real Estate Remix
Tis’ the season for 2024 real estate market predictions. Zillow and Realtor.com recently released their trend reports, sharing what they believe buyers and sellers can expect in 2024. Here’s a quick summary:
- Home prices are expected to dip ever so slightly as buyers lose their sense of urgency.
- The number of home sales are expected to remain steady as costs deter existing homeowners from moving.
- Home inventory is expected to drop significantly (nearly 14.5%)—a primary reason being the lock-in effect—however, new developments and rentals will provide relief.
The world of real estate is not experienced in a vacuum. Inflation, cultural shifts, geopolitics, elections, and tech all impact it in vast ways. My two cents? While the data may tell one story, there’s no cut and dry path forward when it comes to making the “best decision” for your real estate journey. I often tell my clients that the best thing one can do is make thoughtful, rational decisions based on your life stage, buying power, and personal needs. For anyone hoping to discuss their real estate plan for 2024, don’t hesitate to reach out. There’s a lot of info out there—let’s have an honest convo!
NYC Insider: What’s Happening This Week
There’s a lot of holiday events and parties happening this time of year, but for those looking for a break, the Brooklyn is… exhibit at the Brooklyn Public LIbrary is a fun diversion from the holiday buzz. This exhibit explores the neighborhoods and people of Brooklyn through photographs and maps and invites viewers to reflect on Brooklyn’s endless complexity. I’m a Brooklynite for life and always enjoy learning about its history and profound impact on those who lived and worked here. With personal stories (told through voice and photograph), this exhibit weaves a dynamic story around my favorite borough. (Exhibit runs until March 14th).

Words are power!
When I was in 5th grade my Dad gave me his college vocabulary book. I remember saying “Dad, these words are hard!” and his response was “Words will open doors for you. It will help you have conversations you’d never think you’d have and it signals to others you’re at a certain level”. I took my Dad’s words to heart and started learning new words religiously. I now have him to thank for being the wordsmith I am today (and for being a voracious reader). I can’t emphasize enough how much confidence I have as a result of having a strong vocabulary. Try learning one new word a week and see how your life changes for the better…one word at a time.
