Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdomâall in three minutes or less. Letâs dive in.Â
Real Estate RemixÂ
New data uncovered by Realtor.com shows that particular renovations (more than others) can help sellers achieve a better listing price. Before we get into the details, I want to preface that Iâm BIG into design, and I want my clients to prioritize renovation decisions that please them now versus solely thinking about re-sale down the line. But, with this list of renovations, I think you can achieve both. For example, homes with ânew landscaping,â ârenovated kitchen,â and ânew appliancesâ are the best for driving bidding wars. (âNew drivewayâ and ânew deckâ are also on the list, but not as applicable for my New Yorkers.) You can learn more about what exactly falls under those categories here. If youâre thinking about sellingâwhether itâs in one month or one yearâlet me know by replying to this email. Letâs make sure we have a rock-solid game plan for when that time comes.Â
NYC Insider: Whatâs Happening This WeekÂ
The Museum of Art and Technology is behind a brand-new exhibition at Mercer Labs. Dark Matter is a limited-time art show that begins this Friday, Oct 4th. It examines the role of darkness in art history and presents a âmirror to our fears and fascinations with the unknown.â The 36,000 SF space utilizes 8K projections, omnidirectional sound, and robots to bring the nightmare before midnight to life. I love it when art mimics seasons; in this show, the thrill of October is artistically brought to life. Tickets are on sale now (and only until Oct 30th).Â
Weekly Gem đ
How it starts is usually how it ends!Â
This gem reminds us to be hyper-aware of what it feels like to enter a partnership, relationship, or transaction. If something feels off, monitor it closely and if it continues, then speak on it. If it doesnât feel right after that, itâs time to pivot because, in my experience, how something starts is usually how it ends. We all need a good start to be successful, so take caution and protect yourself. You might just end up saving time, money, and your reputation!Â
