Real Estate RemixÂ
Gowanus is an amazing neighborhood with some of my favorite establishmentsâPublic Records, Dinosaur BBQ, The Royal Palms, and Runner & Stone, to name a fewâplus its proximity to neighboring Carroll Gardens and Park Slope is key. But, the Gowanus Canal has its issues. This article in the New Yorker reports that The Department of Environmental Protection has been pumping notes of cinnamon and citrus (letâs call it Christmas) in an attempt to neutralize its odor. Is it working? Residents arenât so sure. Iâve had many clients buy in Gowanus and been really happy (itâs an incredible area), but as your agent, itâs my job to accurately brief you on the neighborhood youâre searching in so that there are no surprises. If you have questions about buying this fall in Brooklyn or Manhattan, Iâm your guy. Letâs chat!Â
NYC Insider: Whatâs Happening This WeekÂ
The US Open is fully in session! The tennis tournament has been played in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, every summer since 1978. This yearâs events run over Labor Day until Sunday, Sept 8th, so thereâs still time to see a game in person. Make sure to arrive early to get the most out of the experienceâwalk around the grounds, grab the famous Honey Deuce, and try the much-buzzed-about Golden Nuggets (chicken nuggets & caviar) from Coqodoc. Tickets can be found here.Â

Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable.Â
When I look back over my life, a constant theme is having to get uncomfortable to advance. I had a successful run in the music industry and when I pivoted into real estate, I was uncomfortable as a new father trying to help people rent apartments (only a couple of months before the Great Recession, no less). Before music, I was successful in a sales role, and once again, had to get uncomfortable and start my new career by answering phones at Flavor Unit, which was a huge challenge given my experience and skill set. If we flash back to college, I had to get uncomfortable and move 3,000 miles away from home to attend Howard University and get a first-class education.Â
Every level-up required that I first get uncomfortable. Itâs the challenge I pose to you today: what will you do today thatâs uncomfortable to advance? Travel to a new country, make a new introduction, learn a new skill or language, expand your palette with different foods, and get comfortable being uncomfortable. We only grow by stretching and change is where the magic happens.Â
