What Up Family?
Welcome to The Edit with Aaron Seawood, a lifestyle letter serving a weekly dose of real estate, culture, and wisdomâall in three minutes or less. Letâs dive in.Â
Real Estate RemixÂ
Has anyone here toured a property only to be disappointed that it didnât live up to the photos? With virtual staging and photo editing looking more and more realistic, itâs bound to happen. Seasoned brokers like myself have to be extra discerning when informing buyers and managing expectations. Of course, minor photo editing is always expected and encouragedâthe home should shineâbut thereâs a difference between enhancing and distorting. Some edits warp views (showing trees that donât exist or blurring power lines that do) and present alternative floor plans that arenât legally feasible. If your gut tells you itâs too perfect and polished to be true, you might be right. Always check with your agentâweâre on your side!Â
NYC Insider: Whatâs Happening This WeekÂ
Halloween is drawing near and that meansâŠso are the dog parades đ¶! This Saturday, Oct 26th, is the Washington Square Park dog parade and the Fort Greene dog parade (Tompkins held theirs last weekend!). These events are always fun to walk around and enjoy the amazing costumes dogs and their owners are sporting. Both events are free to attend. If you have a dog and want to participate, Fort Greene needs advanced registration (sadly itâs already sold out), but Washington Square Park is free. Photo highlights from Tompkins are hereâmy fav costume has to be #2âŠitâs genius! Whatâs yours?
Weekly Gem đ
Done is Better Than Perfect Â
A classic gem that never goes out of style: donât let perfect be the enemy of good. For years Iâve been a perfectionist, allowing minor tweaks and adjustments to keep me from releasing whatever I was working on. Itâs critical to understand the power of finishing projects and putting them out there, regardless of whether itâs âperfect.â The feeling we get from completion is unmatchedâŠand the feedback you get from it will inform your next iteration.Â
But, that doesnât mean we arenât doing our best possible work! Itâs understanding that whatever you put out there is the foundation that you will build on for the future. Donât get paralysis by analysis. Chase perfection with the intent of catching excellence, all the while, knowing done is better than perfect.Â
